On 15 January, Nam Theun 2 Power Company Limited held a conference to announce its 15th anniversary logo, marking 15 years of commercial operations and unveiling a series of celebratory activities planned for the year.
The event, led by CEO Marc-Antoine Rupp, highlighted the project’s accomplishments and its continued commitment to Laos’ development since the company’s inception in 2010.
“Nam Theun 2 has been one of the most successful and efficient companies in Laos, significantly contributing to the nation’s progress under the Lao Government’s guidance,” said Rupp.
The company has planned a grand celebration in Vientiane on 30 April to commemorate the Commercial Operation Date anniversary, with senior officials and stakeholders expected to attend. Additionally, in October, the company will co-organize with the Nakai Festival, which will be hosted in Khammouane Province to honor local communities and boost tourism.
Nam Theun 2 generates 6,000 GWh of electricity annually, with 5 percent used domestically and 95 percent exported to Thailand. Over its concession period, it is expected to contribute USD 2 billion to Laos, supporting poverty reduction and sustainable development.
