On Sunday, June 16, 2024, Nam Theun 2 completed the full powerhouse shutdown on schedule from 03:00 to 19:00, without any accidents, to carry out preventive maintenance, inspections, and corrective maintenance.
The activities were performed at the water intake, such as the three-year underwater inspection of the of the water intake trash rack and rock trap, the powerhouse units (FU1, FU2, FU3, and FU4), PWH-Auxiliary, PWH-Tailrace, 500Kv substation and transmission lines, regulating dam, and downstream channel.
Nam Theun 2 completed all activities on time and resumed normal operation. However, some works need to be postponed due to the water level, wait for the necessary spare part, finalize the proper work preparation, and resolve it during the next DSC shutdown.
