Job Purpose:
- The reforestation program in the forest area surrounding Nam Theun 2 (NT2) industrial zone aiming at increasing the forest coverage and density as well as reducing the slash-and-burn activities (from illegal agriculture) and prevent erosion.
- The reforestation and environmental awareness campaign in Gnommalath, Nakai, and Mahaxay districts with the goal of planting fruit trees in the schools and raising awareness and capacity building among students.
- Reduce air pollution that will affect to human’s health.
- Offset environmental impacts and carbon emissions of NT2 operation.
- Support and promote agriculture activities for local communities.
- Create partnerships with other organizations to raise fundings and share knowledge.
- Enhance eco-tourism in the area.
Key Accountabilities/Activities:
- Ensure the implementation of the projects against annual work-plan, targets, time-plans and result indicators.
- Develop internal monitoring and operational plans that help programs’ implementation.
- Ensure the programs operations follow internal procedures, policies, and operation manuals.
- Monitor field-based implementation of projects and provide guidance to the local authorities and communities.
- Ensure timely, quality progress, and best value for money of the project’s implementation.
- Coordinate the payment process of the projects and keep financial data record.
- Enhance communication about Nam Theun 2 Power Company (NTPC) activities and promote a positive image to internal and external stakeholders.
- Reforestation: native trees in the forest surrounding NT2 industrial zone (protected zone, database follow up, plantation, etc.)
- Reforestation – fruit trees in the schools in Nakai, Gnommalath, and Mahaxay districts (monitoring, awareness campaign, etc.)
- Support and promote agriculture activities for local communities (feasibility studies, market opportunities, access to financial resources for the local communities, etc.)
- Produce monthly progress reports to CSR Team Leader and CSR Manager.
Competency Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Agribusiness, natural resources management, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in forestry management, agriculture, or reforestation projects.
- Strong project management skills.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to work collaboratively to achieve project/company goals.
- Ability to work with multiple projects and initiatives including local authorities and communities.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, capacity to work well in a team.
- Coordination and facilitation skills.
- Good English written and oral skills.
- Good in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Outlook).
