Job Purpose:

  • Improve the quality of life and promote the well-being of people who are living surrounding Nam Theun 2 (NT2) Project Areas (Nakai, Gnommalath, Mahaxay, XeBangFai, Kamkheut, etc.) by providing access to (i) Higher education, (ii) Health care, (iii) Livelihood opportunity, and (iv) Essential infrastructure (educational programs,enhancing community-based health service, infrastructure projects to access electricity, and clean water supply)
  • Enhance eco-tourism in the area.

Key Accountabilities/Activities:

  • Ensure the implementation of the projects against annual work-plan, targets, time-plans and result indicators.
  • Develop internal monitoring and operational plans that help programs’ implementation.
  • Ensure the programs operations follow internal procedures, policies, and operation manuals.
  • Monitor field-based implementation of projects and provide guidance to the local authorities and communities.
  • Ensure timely, quality progress, and best value for money of the project’s implementation.
  • Produce monthly progress reports to CSR Team Leader and CSR Manager.
  • Enhance communication about NTPC activities and promote a positive image to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Be in charge of the Nam Theun 2 Development Fund (NT2DF) operations and activities.
  • Prepare and organize Steering Committee meetings related to the scope of work.
  • Prepare and follow-up the contracts (bidding process, monitoring, etc.).
  • Disseminate key information and progress about NT2DF projects implementation to the local communities.
  • Develop and promote new market opportunities linked with the strengths of the area (crops, tourism, etc.).
  • Support and develop the project “One Product One District” which aims at promoting the unique identity of the districts surrounding NT2 project area.
  • Develop access to financial resources for the local communities to increase their livelihood opportunities (develop their agricultural activities, entrepreneurship activities, etc.).

Competency Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Economics, or any related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in community development, project coordination, NGOs, or related fields.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in autonomy
  • Ability to work collaboratively to achieve project/company goals.
  • Ability to work with multiple projects and initiatives including local authorities and communities.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, capacity to work well in a team.
  • Coordination and facilitation skills
  • Good English written and oral skills.
  • Good in Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Outlook).
